This issue of the MJB Newsletter finds us in the beginning of Summer 2005. To date, it has been a good summer with the temperature more moderate than usual and plenty of activity both in MJBville and Duffyville! The MJB reporter, Duffy, has been rather busy with fatherhood duties and thus the Newsletter issues are even less frequent than before. Carol and Tom are expecting A BOY in October, so the Duffy name will live on!
Although MJB types tend to gather in smaller groups and less frequently than in the past, the annual Memorial Day Weekend Picnic illustrates how much fun it can be when MJB folk gather. Everyone who made it was treated to a live music performance by the Smith Family band, The Objections. Jane (on guitar), Tim (on harmonica), and 7 other band members put on a show to remember during the party. Even their daughter, Christina, got into the act with some vocal support! Folks also got to take an early look at the new Duffy Deck which is now complete. We were treated to great weather and lots of fun.
Another annual summer activity is softball and the MJB coed softball team is once again having a great season. They are the odds-on-favorite to win the Howard County coed league and they have done so in convincing fashion. They were 8-1 going into the final game. Come on out for their final game on Monday, June 27th at 9pm at Cedar Lane Park. The league championship is at stake. The team will also be playing in the Howard County Coed Tourney on the weekend of July 9th and 10th. Wish them well!
Yet another annual event is rafting and camping. This year's trip down the Youghioghenny is coming soon: July 15-17 with rafting on the 16th. We are camping in a new area this year that can accomodate up to 40 campers, so talk up the trip. Refer to the link below for more details:

There is still time to get on your bike and join in on the annual Bike for Crabs event to St. Michaels. The date of the trip is Sunday, June 26th. Refer to the link below for details:

The MJB Golf Tourney in late spring was also a great outing. This year's event was held at The Timbers of Troy near the Duffy household. The new "handicap as you go" scoring system made the event quite competitive, but Paul Hynson's foursome came through again. Below are the results:
As for Team Honors, Paul Hynson's team took the low gross and Tom Duffy's took the booby prize. Below are the results:
| Foursome | Score |
|---|---|
| Paul Hynson's Foursome | 5 under par ($20) |
| Brian Cuthie, Dave Hynson Foursome | 3 under par |
| The CIP Foursome (Duffy's Work) | 3 under par |
| Viv's Skyhawk Foursome | 2 under par |
| Charlie Ray's Foursome | 2 under par |
| Drussell Foursome | Par |
| Blickenstaff Foursome | 1 over par |
| Duffy Foursome | 2 over par ($20) |
The gallery on the 18th hole made playing that hole all the more interesting. It is not every day that an amateur golfer gets to hear "Get in the hole" or "You 'da man!" or simple cheering after they strike a putt. That was a lot of fun. The post-tourney picnic went very well. Special Thanks go to Carol's Mom & Dad for taking care of Brianna and the house while we were out playing golf. The star of the show was my wife Carol who made sure the party went smoothly and added all the special touches. Jake, the grillman did an excellent job and many folks helped us clean up. All in all, I think the post-tourney cookout was a success.
The Blickenstaffs are having a pool party on July 3rd and all MJBs and Aches & Pains players are invited. This will be a big bash starting around noon including family and friends. As usual this is a pot luck style event and all are welcome. New this year is the (partially) finished basement with the ping pong table, darts, and video games.
As noted earlier, the Annual Rafting/Camping/Duckie trip is scheduled for July 15-17. We have camping space for 40 at a new place this year. The bathroom and showers should be much more accessible, but it is much more open. Nonetheless, it should be great fun for those into water sports as well as campers, hikers, and bikers. Please send Duff a note if you plan on attending, there is plenty of room.
Also noted earlier is the Bike for Crabs event in St. Michaels. If you plan on joining us, give Mary a call so that she can make proper reservations at the Crab Claw. Hope to see you there.
The future looks good for the MJB softball team. Terri and Steve Worrel will be returning next season as will our star first baseperson, Carol (hopefully). With Blake Worrell, the Croson kids, Brianna Duffy and ? Duffy, we have the nucleus of a strong future team. Add in Holly Hynson and several other MJB offspring and it looks like the team will continue to shine for many years to come.
YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE TELLS IT ALL
A mother is driving a little girl to her friend's house for a play date.
"Mommy," the little girl asks, "how old are you?"
"Honey, you are not supposed to ask a lady her age," the mother replied. "It's not polite."
"OK", the little girl says, "How much do you weigh?"
"Now really," the mother says, "those are personal questions and are really none of your business."
Undaunted, the little girl asks, "Why did you and Daddy get a divorce?"
"That is enough questions, young lady, honestly!"
The exasperated mother walks away as the two friends begin to play.
"My Mom won't tell me anything about her," the little girl says to her friend.
"Well," says the friend, "all you need to do is look at her drivers' license It is like a report card, it has everything on it."
Later that night the little girl says to her mother, "I know how old you are, you are 32."
The mother is surprised and asks, "How did you find that out?
"I also know that you weigh 140 pounds."
The mother is past surprised and shocked now. "How in heaven's name did you find that out?"
"And," the little girl says triumphantly, "I know why you and daddy got a divorce."
"Oh really?" the mother asks. "Why?"
"Because you got an F in sex."
